WHAT IS HOMECOMING?
Homecoming is a time-honored tradition celebrating all that is unique about the College of Charleston, and all the pride members of the College of Charleston community have for our institution. Homecoming at the College of Charleston takes on a different feel as compared to most College's in the South, much like some of the other time-honored traditions at the College. It is a chance for clubs and organizations to band together and show their schools spirit and to thank alumni for both "paving the way" and for their generosity in supporting their Alma mater in multiple ways which benefit today's students.
The College of Charleston has celebrated the tradition of Homecoming for many years, and it has taken on many different forms. The modern version of our Homecoming traditions began in 2005 when wanted to bring back some of spirit and tradition that has been lost through time. Currently our Homecoming Week is held annually in the spring in conjunction with Cougar Basketball and includes a week-long calendar of events includes royalty elections, a golf cart parade and tailgate, a concert at the Music Farm, a service project for the campus community, and a Spirit Cup Challenge for all recognized student organizations on campus.
The College of Charleston's Homecoming Committee strives to involve all student organizations in the various contests and events of Homecoming. Homecoming participation gives groups a common goal, builds team unity, and promotes school spirit and pride in CofC. Our goal is to have every club, organization, Residence Hall, Fraternity, Sorority, etc., compete in at least one of the major contests sponsored by the Homecoming Committee.
