Q: What is Convocation?
A: Convocation is an official event of the College of Charleston. It serves to welcome new students to the College, familiarizes them with the institution’s traditions and history, and encourages them to consider their own intellectual journey.


Q: I am a new student at the College of Charleston. Do I have to attend Convocation?
A: Yes. All new undergraduate students are expected to attend Convocation. It is the first formal event of your college career, just as Commencement is the last.


Q: What should I wear?
A: You should wear "business casual" clothing appropriate to an official college activity with faculty.
